After being asked to bat first by Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka, India have scored 164/5 in 20 overs in the first T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Making his debut, India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw (0) was dismissed for a golden duck as captain Shikhar Dhawan (46) and batsman Sanju Samson (27) put together a 51-run partnership for the second wicket.

With bowling figures of 4-0-24-2, pacer Dushmantha Chameera was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers. Apart from Chameera, Wanidu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne picked two and one wicket respectively to not let India take a significant advantage in the first innings.
Weather report in Colombo
After the third ODI, this match is also being played in vicinity of getting interrupted by rain. While the play hasn’t been stopped as of now, slight drizzle has already made its presence felt at the venue on a couple of times when India were batting.
Hence, it goes without saying that the current weather forecast isn’t very pleasing. In addition to a decent prediction of rain pouring down anytime from now, it will remain the same way as the night progresses.
According to AccuWeather, there’s a 56% probability of rainfall at around 11 PM (local time). After increasing to 61% at midnight, the probability then decreases to 40%.
In such a situation, both the teams are likely to have a close eye on revised targets after each over in the second innings. For now, no reduction in overs is on the cards but whether it will remain that way in the second innings remains to be seen.
