The first Test of West Indies’ tour of England will began in exactly a week’s time in Southampton. In what won’t just be another series, it will resume international cricket post the COVID-19 outbreak.
West Indies, who had arrived in England more than three weeks ago to adhere to UK’s 14-day mandatory quarantine period, are currently playing their second practice match at the Old Trafford.
On the other hand, the hosts entered the bio-secure bubble at the Ageas Bowl last week after players individually resumed training.
With England confirming that regular captain Joe Root will miss the first Test in the wake of a paternity leave, all-rounder Ben Stokes will lead them and wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler playing the role of his deputy.
