It is known to everyone that former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a special love for his bikes. The 42-year old has a hugely opulent collection of two-wheelers. Dhoni, who makes sure that he takes full care of his “toys”, once broke a traffic rule while riding one of his bikes and had to pay a fine for the same.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni revealed that he managed to assemble a few bikes by himself. From old retro models to the latest super bikes, Dhoni has everything in his garage as far as variety is concerned. It is said that Dhoni was the first owner of Kawasaki Ninja H2 back in April 2015.
When MS Dhoni Was Fined INR 500 For Violating Traffic Rules
Dhoni was enjoying a ride in his hometown Ranchi eight years ago when he erred as a rider. He was on his vintage bullet BSA Gold Star DBD 34 (MHP-6518). Traffic SP Kartik S. had said Dhoni was fined INR 500 under section 122/179 of the Motor Vehicle Act for violating the Motor Vehicle Act guidelines in the evening.
“We had sent the Chalan to his house and Dhoni’s family paid the fine and said he violated the rules due to ignorance.”
The act said that the vehicle should have the registration number clearly visible on both the back and front of the vehicle. On Dhoni’s bike, the number plate was not visible at the front. The police got to know about the same when they saw viral photos of Dhoni riding on the streets in newspapers.
It is to note that the registered number was mentioned on the side instead of the front. BSA Gold Star DBD 34 is a vintage bike that was introduced in 1956. It is not easily available in India and its price ranges from £6,500 (approx INR 6,92,000) to £7,000 (approx INR 7,45,000). For the uninitiated, BSA is now owned by Indian giant Mahindra.
Much like Dhoni, Virat Kohli was also fined INR 500 Once
Just like Dhoni, his successor Virat Kohli was also fined INR 500 in 2019. There was a shortage of drinking water in Gurugram at the time. While Kohli was on a professional tour, his househelp was spotted cleaning his cars with mineral water. As a result, Kohli’s neighbors registered an official complaint for the same.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) took action against the then Indian captain and a fine was imposed on Kohli at a time when other houses of DLF Phase 1 were facing water cuts.
