CSK releases three players ahead of IPL Auction

CSK releases three players ahead of IPL Auction: CSK have released two uncapped domestic and one capped overseas cricketer.

Announcing a last-minute development, IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings have released three players ahead of the reported deadline of November 15 (tomorrow) for the trading window.

While other franchises have all sold, traded and released players, Super Kings were one of the two franchises who hadn’t made any announcement as of now. With them updating their list of release players now, Rajasthan Royals remains the only franchise who haven’t made any change to their squad during the trading window.

CSK have released England’s pacer Mark Wood and two domestic players in left-arm medium-pacer Bengal’s Kanishk Seth and middle-order batsman Arunachal Pradesh’s Kshitiz Sharma ahead of the the auction for the next season of the IPL.

Wood was bought for INR 1.5 crore but was given a lone match before he left midway to prepare for a county stint with Durham. On the other hand, the two domestic players weren’t given a single match to showcase their potential after being bought for INR 20 lakh.

Having released three players, CSK have added INR 1.9 crore to their purse, which is likely to come in handy for them during the IPL auction which are reportedly to be held on December 16 for the first time in Goa. Having not swapped or bought a player, one expects them to buy a few players during the auction.

One of the most successful teams in the IPL, Chennai won their third IPL title earlier this year despite fielding a team comprising of many veteran players. Having not released any one of them, it speaks highly of their faith in their core team.
