CSK replies to reports of MS Dhoni getting released: The runners-up of IPL 2019 have opened up on the legendary cricketer’s future.

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at that stage of his international career where every new day sees a new retirement speculation with respect to him.

The number in which these speculations are made public cater to both Dhoni’s future in international cricket and in the Indian Premier League.

In a recent interview with Times of India, a source close to Super Kings had talked about Dhoni himself asking to be released after IPL 2020. The source further revealed how Dhoni wanted to save money for the franchise as a mega auction is slated to happen before IPL 2021.

“There will be a big auction before the 2021 IPL and [MS] Dhoni has already told us that he will play the tournament. So there’s no question of his retirement from the T20 version anytime soon.

“He wants to go back to the auction pool for the big auction that will take place ahead of the 2021 season. That will give CSK the option of using the Right-to-Match card to pick him, maybe for a lower price. Being the captain he is, Dhoni is ready to sacrifice money for the CSK cause,” the source was quoted as saying.

With a website publishing the report with the title of “MS Dhoni wants to leave CSK”, Super Kings’ official Twitter handle ended up replying on it in a fitting manner. “No, the nation knows that!,” read the reply.

It is worth mentioning that Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings in as many as 10 seasons in the tournament. CSK have lifted the trophy under Dhoni thrice in 2010, 2011 and 2018.
