CSK vs KXIP Man of the Match

CSK vs KXIP Man of the Match: Chennai Super Kings veteran cricketer was declared the Man of the Match against Kings XI.

During the 18th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kings XI Punjab by 22 runs to register their fourth IPL 2019 victory.

Chasing a 161-run target, Kings XI looked set to chase the target at the halfway mark. However, it was astute captaincy from CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in association with smart bowling from his bowlers which aided them to defend 161 runs. Kings XI eventually ended up scoring 138-5 in 20 overs.

Kings XI were right into the game on the back of a 110-run partnership for the third wicket between Lokesh Rahul (55) and Sarfaraz Khan (67). Having said that, once Rahul got out, things seemed to have become daunting for the visitors. From needing 90 runs in 10 overs, the equation dropped down to Punjab needing 46 runs in the last three overs.

The 38-year old cricketer started with dismissing Kings XI opening batsman Chris Gayle (5) and top-order batsman Mayank Agarwal (0) in his first over. With it also being a double-wicket maiden over, it was the perfect start for Super Kings.

After Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat, Super Kings ended up scoring 160-3 on the back of Dhoni finishing the innings for them. The veteran cricketer scored 37* (23) with the help of four fours and a six. Earlier, it was opening batsman Faf du Plessis (54) who scored his 10th IPL half-century.
