CSK vs MI Man of the Match

CSK vs MI Man of the Match: Mumbai Indians senior player was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ against Chennai Super Kings.

During the 44th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Chennai, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 46 runs to register their seventh IPL 2019 victory.

In what was Mumbai’s second victory over Chennai this season, it also maintained their unbeaten record (since 2010) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Chasing a 156-run target, Super Kings struggled from the word go. Having dismissed opening batsman Shane Watson (8) in the first over itself, Indians’ bowlers continued to make inroads into the hosts’ batting lineup. With MI dismissing half of CSK’s side at the halfway mark, they already had firm hands on the match.

Having sucked the momentum out of Chennai’s innings, Mumbai eventually bowled them out on 109 in the 18th over. Opening batsman Murali Vijay top-scored for the hosts scoring 38 (35) with the help of three fours and a six.

With bowing figures of 3.4-0-37-4, veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga was MI’s highest wicket-taker. Other than Malinga, all-rounder Krunal Pandya and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah picked up a couple of wickets for Indians.

After CSK captain Suresh Raina won the toss and chose to field, Mumbai scored 155/4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. MI captain Rohit Sharma top-scored for his team registering his first IPL 2019 half-century.

In what was his 35th IPL half-century overall, Sharma ended up scoring 67 (48) with the help of six fours and three sixes before getting out in the 17th over. It was his 75-run partnership for the second wicket with Evin Lewis (32) which aided Mumbai to post a competitive total.

On the back of scoring a half-century on a wicket which others found difficult to bat on, Sharma was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ tonight.
