David De Gea blunder vs Barcelona: Man Utd goalkeeper’s howler against Messi gives 2-0 lead to Barca and ends United’s CL hopes
David De Gea has dished out another howler in a high profile game, this time for his club at the Camp Nou. Trailing 1-0 on the night, Solskjaer would have wanted his team to hold onto the ball and keep pegging away at the Barcelona goal. However, their most dependable player, David De Gea committed a grave error, handing Barcelona a 2-0 lead and Lionel Messi his second goal of the night.
Messi got the ball in midfield and carried it with him, taking it on his right before trying to slot it past David De Gea. His shot though was a tame one, and was rolling towards De Gea, who should have buried it in his hands. But, that did not quite happen. The Man Utd goalkeeper instead let the ball get through his hands and into the bottom of the net, giving Barcelona a 3-0 advantage on aggregate.
The goal was like a dagger to the heart of Man Utd, who would have hoped to pass the ball around and settle into the game after that first goal.

United will now have to play out of their skins and score 3 goals in order to progress to the semi-finals, a task that seems impossible with the current quality of players that they have.
Earlier in the game, Rashford missed a one-on-one chance, one that he could have slotted home and sent United fans into a frenzy. But, as in the first leg, the United forward did not take his chance and United are still trailing in the game, this time by a margin of 3 goals.
Do you think Man United can script one of the greatest European comebacks of all time by scoring 3 goals in the remaining minutes or will Barcelona progress to the Semi-Finals?
