David De Gea slams Man Utd teammates after unacceptable performance vs Newcastle

David De Gea slams Man Utd teammates after unacceptable performance vs Newcastle United in their Premier League encounter.

It was a day to forget at Manchester today. Earlier in the day, Manchester City were beaten at home by Wolverhampton with the scoreline reading 2-0 at full time. Over at St. James Park, United too would return empty handed after losing 1-0 to Newcastle.

United have failed to register a single away win since their historic win over PSG at the Parc de Princess earlier in the year. The sale of Lukaku has come back to haunt the side who are finding it harder than ever to score goals in a match.

It does not help that a host of first team players are regularly missing matches due to injuries. Star keeper David de Gea criticised the teams performance after the match and labelled it the most difficult time at the club since his arrival before accepting that he had no idea what was happening.

“We didn’t create any proper chances,” De Gea told Sky Sports at full-time. “We defended well. The team needs to step up. We have some big injuries but that’s no excuse. We are Manchester United, we need to keep training hard, fighting and winning games.”

Asked what United need to improve after a torrid start to the campaign, De Gea said:

“Everything.”

“A lot of things to improve. I don’t know what to say. Keep trying, fighting, improving every day. It’s a hard moment for us.”

“It’s probably the most difficult time since I’ve been here. I don’t know why, what is happening. We cannot score even one goal in two games.

“It’s difficult to say something. Sorry to the fans. We will keep fighting for sure, we will come back, but at the moment we are in a difficult situation.

“We defended quite well. It’s true they had good chances to score but, come one, we conceded a goal from our corner. That cannot happen.

“It’s not acceptable, not just this game, the whole season. Keep fighting and see what happens in the next games.”

United will now face Liverpool next in what will be an uphill task. Not only are Jurgen Klopp’s side table toppers but they have won all their matches in the league so far. United will have to play out of their skins to get a point out of the match let alone win it.
