Twitter reactions on Warner's comeback vs KKR

Twitter reactions on Warner’s comeback vs KKR: Twitter exhilarated as SRH’s opening batsman scores his 37th IPL half-century.

During the second match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Kolkata, Sunrisers Hyderabad opening batsman David Warner scored his 37th IPL half-century to propel his team to an exceptional start.

In the absence of regular captain Kane Williamson, Warner opened the batting alongside England opening batsman Jonny Bairstow. The duo ended up sharing a 118-run partnership for the first wicket as Bairstow (39) became the first batsman to be dismissed in the 13th over.

Warner, who had looked good during SRH’s warm-up matches, continued on his form in the season opener for the franchise. While Bairstow looked scratchy throughout his innings, the southpaw looked set for a formidable innings. Warner hitting a couple of fours off Knight Riders leg-spinner Piyush Chawla in the second over of the innings were evident signs of the same.

Warner finds form on comeback

Hitting at least one boundary off each bowler who bowled in the powerplay, Warner had scored 34* (21) in the first six overs. Warner brought his half-century in the ninth over as he hit 12 runs in KKR all-rounder Andre Russell’s first over.

It was an upper cut over third-man which saw the 32-year old raise his bat. Batting in his comeback match, Bairstow’s wicket didn’t seem to affect Warner’s touch as he continued to belt the Knight Riders’. However, just when he was looking set to score the first century of IPL 2019, he lost his wicket to Russell.

On the last delivery of the 16th over, Warner hit hard a Russell delivery on the off-side only to be caught by Robin Uthappa at cover. Before getting out, Warner ended up scoring 85 (53) with the help of nine fours and three sixes.
