David Willey to replace Kedar Jadhav for CSK
It was a wonderful occasion at the Wankhede, as MS Dhoni lead his CSK side for the first time in two years in the IPL.
The returning team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) began their IPL campaign with a victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) by 1 wicket. But the team got a big blow just before their second game of tournament which is against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Kedar Jadhav was ruled out of the tournament due to grade 2 hamstring injury which he received during the opener game. However, the franchise has approached yet another England pacer as Jadhav’s replacement for the remaining game of the tournament.
Kedar won CSK the match against Mumbai, as the injured batsman smashed the remaining seven runs to win the match in the last over.
According to Cricbuzz, CSK franchise is looking to have David Willey as Jadhav’s replacement. The left arm bowler has completed all the paperwork with IPL on Sunday evening itself according to the reports. Willey looks a decent replacement as the franchise needed an extra bowler to strength their bowling department which was effected when Santner was ruled out.
Willey will be playing in IPL for the first time in his career and he has already proven himself as a T20 performer with experience of 147 matches. e has picked 143 wickets at a strike rate of 16.7 and is also useful with the bat most of the times. He has scored 2097 runs at an amazing strike rate of 142.55 and also has a couple of hundreds to his name along with 7 half-centuries.
Willey may prove to be a master stroke, as he has proven himself to be a very efficient seam bowler, as well as a handy person to have with the bat. Let’s hope for CSK’s sake that he proves to be an inspired choice!
