In the six matches that Delhi Capitals have played in IPL 2019, they have won three and lost the other three. Despite showing more mettle on paper, Capitals’ patchiness have not let them display their true value in the tournament.
Capitals will be playing their seventh match against Kolkata Knight Riders tonight. At the halfway mark in the league stage, DC would be hoping to register a victory in a bid to go into the second half with a better mindset.
What is likely to come good for Delhi is the fact that they defeated Kolkata in their last meeting albeit in a super over. Currently at No. 6 in the points table, another loss will make things hard for them in the upcoming days.

Top-order
There is no going into a safe house regarding the fact that a stellar top-order comprising of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and captain Shreyas Iyer hasn’t performed to the expected lines till now. Dhawan, the senior-most of the trio, scoring 152 runs at an average of 25.33 and a strike rate of 116.03 is not the reason why DC exchanged as many as three players for him.
Given the opposition in KKR, DC needs its top-order to fire especially if they bat first for no amount of runs will be a par total against KKR all-rounder Andre Russell.
Fearless. Confident. Determined.
The perfect practice brings out the perfect innings. Another #SkipperShreyas special tomorrow? 😍#KKRvDC #ThisIsNewDelhi #DelhiCapitals pic.twitter.com/pC1DOrsLjC

Middle-order
DC might also be pondering about giving a chance to New Zealand batsman Colin Munro. With Colin Ingram not being consistent in the six matches that he has played thus far, playing Munro will be a like-for-like replacement even if the Kiwi batsman mostly opens the batting these days.
Despite looking good, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will have to bat with more responsibility by primarily curbing his natural instincts of going for every ball in every situation. In what is a curtailed batting line-up, the all-rounder duo of Chris Morris and Axar Patel will have to step up with the bat as well.
Bowlers
Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will continue to lead the attack. The presence of fellow pacer in Ishant Sharma will provide him with experience which had looked decent in the tournament but can be improved drastically.
Delhi Capitals would also be looking to bank on their leg-spinner duo of Sandeep Lamichhane and Rahul Tewatia. While both of them have done well in the tournament so far, the team management and fans expect more from them especially when it comes to both dismissing opposition batsmen and restricting the run-flow.
