Dwayne Bravo replacement

Dwayne Bravo replacement: Chennai Super Kings veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled for the next two weeks.

Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled for two weeks due to a Grade 1 hamstring tear. The 35-year old cricketer had succumbed to the injury while batting during Chennai’s last match against Mumbai Indians at Mumbai.

Having registered their maiden loss in IPL 2019 after losing the match by 37 runs, Super Kings had received another blow in the form of their premier death bowler being ruled out.

Former Australia cricketer and current CSK batting coach Michael Hussey was the one to break the news on the eve of CSK’s fifth match against Kings XI Punjab.

“It’s going to cause a little bit of rejigging of the team but I am sure we are going to be able to put together a very strong team. It’s a big loss but we have had these challenges in the past. Let’s hope we can do this again,” Hussey was quoted as saying.

“I am sure MS [Dhoni] and [Stephen] Fleming will be looking at Scott Kuggeleijn and assessing his death bowling skills. We’ve got Shardul [Thakur]. Mohit [Sharma] can bowl at the death as well.

“It’s about assessing the conditions. If it’s turning, I think one of the spinners can bowl at the death. I am sure there will be a lot of strategic thinking and it’s a key area of the game,” Hussey opened up regarding their death bowling options in the imminent matches.

If Bravo manages to attain fitness in the given two-week period, he will still miss as many as five matches for Chennai. As mentioned by Hussey, CSK will look to play New Zealand fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn as replacement for Bravo. However, the movie is most likely to decrease their batting strength.

What Chennai can also do is play either one out of Faf du Plessis or Sam Billings (in place of Bravo) in the middle-order and play an Indian fast bowler in place of out-of-form opening batsman Ambati Rayudu.
