Edinson Cavani Signs New One Year Contract Extension: Cavani has been in sterling touch across the course of the last couple of months

Ever since Edinson Cavani had signed on a free for Manchester United from PSG, the move looked to be a colossal mistake for the striker.

Left out in the cold for a magnitude of the season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Cavani was resigned to a bits and pieces role at his new club. Failing to get a serious look into the club’s gameplan, Cavani looked set to exit the Premier League side once his deal expired at the end of the ongoing season.

However, injuries and a hectic and congested set of fixtures revived Edinson Cavani’s career at Manchester United. The last couple of months saw him being handed a slew of chances in the playing 11, chances Cavani ensured he made the most of.

Spearheading his side’s attack, Cavani’s goal at the weekend took his tally to an impressive ten goals in the Premier League. And his recent sumptuous performances persuaded Manchester United to hand over the striker a new one year deal at the club.

Cavani Signs New One Year Deal

According to Fabrizio Romano, Cavani has at last been convinced to remain at Manchester United and has signed a new deal. Whilst the nitty gritties of the deal are not yet made public, an announcement is likely in the next couple of days.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be the driving force behind the contract extension with the Norwegian pushing hard to keep Cavani at the club. Cavani will be looking to repose faith in his manager by adding to his 15 goal and 4 assist tally across all competitions.

“Yeah his movement and his desire to score goals [is there]. ‘It was a great cross from Marcus [Rashford]. We’re getting to learn Edinson as well and hopefully we can get to use him more next season,” Ole had last said about Cavani’s new deal.

Manchester United will next be taking on Leicester City in the Premier League before they veer to face off against Liverpool a couple of days later. The side is earmarked to partake in three matches in the league across five days.
