Edinson Cavani to Atletico Madrid: Urugyuan striker agrees personal terms with Los Rojniblancos

Edinson Cavani to Atletico Madrid: Urugyuan striker agrees on personal terms with the Spanish giants, commits for a 3-year contract.

Edinson Cavani has been sidelined at PSG after the arrival of Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan on loan, which would probably go permanent considering the Argentine’s performances and decent financial liabilities PSG ould have to pay.

This brings Cavani short of options at Les Parisiens. Hence, according to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Cavani has agreed to sign a 3-year contract at Atletico Madrid after agreeing to personal terms.

Cavani will be a free agent from next summer, which allows him to negotiate with the other clubs ahead of the winter transfer window. This means the Urugyuan will probably join Atletico Madrid next summer.

The 32-year-old striker was out of the favours by Thomas Tuchel, which limited to only 11 appearances across all competitions, which allowed him to only score 3 goals in the process.

On the other hand, Icardi has been phenomenal this season and has already amassed 14 goals and 2 assists in 18 games he has played in all competitions this season.

It has been reported that Urugyuan International is interested in working with Diego Simeone at the Spanish capital-based club and considers it to be a new challenge in his career.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid has been suffering in the attack, as Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa have failed to bring substantial results, which has kept them 9 and 7 points below against fierce rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the table respectively.

Now, with Cavani heading to La Liga, the Spanish league will certainly enjoy his services and could possibly improve Atletico Madrid’s chances in the title shot next season.

Atletico Madrid is yet to make an announcement regarding the arrival of the star striker from the Fench capital.
