Emiliano Sala missing aircraft: The wreckage from the aircraft carrying Emiliano Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson was found last night.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch have said that a body has been found in the wreckage of the aircraft carrying Emiliano Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson.

“Tragically, in the video footage from the ROV, one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage. The AAIB is now considering the next steps, in consultation with the families of the pilot and passenger, and the police,” stated the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. (AAIB)

Earlier this week, the AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Branch) confirmed that two plane-seat cushions have been found on a beach in France which could be from Sala’s aircraft.

The debris of the missing aircraft was discovered last night in an underwater search in the English channel.

The aircraft lost signal on Monday two weeks ago, and the search for the lost duo began immediately. Guernsey Police called off the rescue and recovery operation three days later, stating that the possibility of survival was ‘remote.’

The family of Emiliano Sala conducted a private search through a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe.

However, the AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Branch) began an underwater search on Sunday and found the wreckage of the plane. It was later confirmed that the aircraft carried Sala and the pilot, David Ibbotson.

“Early in the search, the Morven identified an object of interest on the seabed using its side-scan sonar equipment,” the AAIB statement read.

“It cleared the immediate area for the Geo Ocean III to use its underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to survey the area of the seabed in which the object was located.

“Based on analysis of ROV video footage, the AAIB investigators onboard the vessel concluded that the object is wreckage from the missing Piper Malibu aircraft, registration N264DB.”

The footballing world is paying their tribute to Emiliano Sala after his disappearance.

Nantes, who played for the first time last week since the unfortunate incident, had a minute of applause in the 9th minute of the game after the referee stopped the match.

Cardiff City, the club Sala transferred to in the January transfer window, sang the player’s name after the side’s 2-0 victory against Bournemouth last weekend.

All the games in the Premier League observed a minute’s silence as a tribute to the lost duo.
