Ex RCB teammate Chris Gayle lauds legend AB de Villiers on a wonderful career
AB de Villiers’ shock retirement from all forms of the game has left the cricketing fraternity in a state of daze.
A batsman who re-defined shot making and discovered new corners of the ground to hit too, won’t be playing his trade in that South Africa shirt ever again.
He has been a revelation all around the world, primarily because how he has carried himself on and off the cricket field. His simplistic attitude and super-human batting skills have caught the imagination of the world, so much so that, when ABD bats in India, the stadium reverberates with chants of ‘AB, AB, AB…’.
Just like all of us, Chris Gayle too was taken aback by ABD’s sudden decision to retire and came up with a wonderful tweet, celebrating ABD’s success as a player and his ‘legendary’ status.
He then went onto wish ABD on his next chapter in life and was looking forward to meeting him during one of the franchise tournaments.
“Congrats on a fantastic career legend, AB de Villiers. I’ll be seeing you! All the best in your next chapter. Blessed.” Chris Gayle tweeted.
Congrats on a fantastic career legend, @ABdeVilliers17 …I’ll be seeing you! All the best in your next chapter. Blessed 👊🏿

In the video released by ABD, he made it very clear that he wanted to bow out on a high and the series wins against India and Australia did provide him with the opportunity of doing that.
He also conceded that after 14 years of International cricket, he was a bit tired and wanted to now step aside and give youngsters a chance to replicate what he did and achieved on the cricket field.
