Daniel Ricciardo is arguably one of the best F1 drivers in today’s generation that finds himself without a race seat. After 10 seasons in F1 from 2011-20, it all went wrong for the Australian after he joined McLaren in 2021.
Ricciardo joined the British outfit as someone who had the potential to get the team back to the top. However, the 33-year-old struggled so much that he finished behind his inexperienced teammate Lando Norris in both 2021 and 2022.
As a result of Ricciardo’s below-par performances, McLaren parted ways with him at the end of last year. Since the current Red Bull test driver finds himself ‘unemployed’, one fan has taken a huge dig at him.
A fan takes huge dig at Ricciardo after he gets verified on Twitter
Twitter has been in the news once again after the Elon Musk-led company removed the blue tick for all celebrities that had not paid $8. As per Twitter’s latest policy, anyone who wants to get verified is required to pay this amount.
Interestingly, as of the morning on April 22, only two drivers – Lance Stroll and Valtteri Bottas – were found to have the blue tick. The remaining 18 drivers, including Daniel Ricciardo, had lost their verification.
However, since Ricciardo has once again verified himself on the social media platform, a fan has used the opportunity to take a massive dig at him. The fan stated that since the Australian is ‘unemployed,’ he must save money.
The fan then interestingly went on to put a disclaimer by stating that they were Ricciardo’s biggest fan. Whether the fan meant this as a joke or not, it’s safe to say that the damage has been done.

Daniel Ricciardo lost his McLaren seat after a poor 2022 season
Daniel Ricciardo encountered a difficult spell at McLaren as he was way off the pace. The Australian finished eighth in the Drivers’ Championship in 2021 with 115 points, 45 points behind teammate Lando Norris.
And things got even worse for the 33-year-old the year after. Ricciardo finished all the way down in eleventh in the 2022 season with just 37 points, a whopping 85 points behind Norris. Because of Ricciardo’s underperformance, McLaren decided to replace him with Oscar Piastri from this year onwards.
