Michael Jordan Threw Lewis Hamilton a Golden Hail Mary Disguised as a Multi-Million Dollar Opportunity

Things went horribly wrong for Lewis Hamilton after the events of the 2021 season. After being robbed of an 8th title, two years later the goal is still far away. While Hamilton pushes on, looking back, Michael Jordan had once made him an offer that could have changed the course of his career.

In 2021, Michael Jordan gave Hamilton a chance to change his fate. Sparking an interesting conversation, Jordan tried to convince Hamilton to join hands with Bubba Wallace in NASCAR for his team.

Jordan had reportedly told the F1 champion in 2021, that it was time for him to turn a new leaf in his career. Additionally, the NBA legend took things a step further by assuring Hamilton of monetary benefits as well. He agreed to cover the Mercedes man’s $25 million salary from 2022 to 2024, marking the first phase of their partnership.

Additionally, this partnership would have been of great interest to Hamilton, as their values match. Jordan’s NASCAR ambitions included creating a junior team for disadvantaged drivers and people of color- both top on the list of Hamilton’s F1 ambitions.

Regardless, it is all history. But had Hamilton looked into the crystal ball of his career, would he have accepted it?

Michael Jordan offer could mean regret for Lewis Hamilton

If Hamilton had taken up Jordan’s offer, he would have saved himself from two miserable years in F1. After bagging his 103rd career win in 2021, Hamilton has failed to stand on the top step of the podium. Jordan is seldom wrong, so was his prediction of Hamilton’s career precise?

The 2022 season had been the worst of his career, with his newbie teammate out-scoring him at the end of the season. Additionally, the car came with its own set of challenges that made it impossible to drive.

Now, in 2023, Hamilton has even accused his team of disregarding his suggestions for the challenger. Jordan had been in a similar situation. Having achieved greatness and made his legacy with the Bulls franchise, he knew when it was time to walk away. Is it now time for Hamilton?

In fact, Hamilton is yet to extend his contract with Mercedes this season, owing to this poor performance. Speculations are at an all-time high, but the pen only lies in one person’s hands. With opportunities awaiting him elsewhere, could Jordan take Hamilton back in?
