George Russell has lately revealed that he doesn’t care about his next teammate once Lewis Hamilton retires. There are talks on the paddock regarding the potential driver who could be in the seven-time world champion’s shoes once he retires or leaves the team in the future.
When asked, the former Williams man stated that he no more cares about it since he already has a teammate who has all the capabilities in the world to be the best. Calling Hamilton as faster and very challenging, the young Briton believes there’s nobody who can surpass the Mercedes veteran on these qualities.

This comes after the 25-year-old managed to beat his older teammate in the very first season. A feat only Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg could manage against the former McLaren man.
Despite beating him last year and currently leading 3-0 in terms of qualifying in 2023, Russell is reluctant to care about his next challenge. Even after defeating the “GOAT“ on the same machinery.
Russell regards Hamilton as GOAT
The GOAT concept is pretty controversial in Formula 1 right now. While most people would prefer to call Lewis Hamilton the greatest of all time, others would choose Michael Schumacher because both of them have won seven F1 titles each.
However, for the young British driver, his compatriot is the greatest driver of all time. No, this isn’t something new coming from him as he’s with the Silver Arrows now.

The then-Williams pilot said this when asked about it by Sky Sports’ Jenson Button. He said, “Lewis is obviously the greatest of all time” back in 2021 when the Stevenage-born driver was on hot pursuit of his eighth F1 world title.
Will Hamilton leave Mercedes?
The talks of Hamilton leaving the eight-time champions have been doing the rounds since the beginning of the season. As the W-14 failed to live up to its expectations, rumors have it that the seven-time world champion might leave the team.
Multiple reports came out earlier this season linking the British driver to Ferrari. However, such a move is only likely if the Prancing Horse can deliver him with a strong enough car to fight for the championship.
The 38-year-old, who’s currently pursuing his eighth championship, has been dealt with a severe blow after back-to-back failures from Mercedes. Since Lewis Hamilton is still to renew his contract with the Silver Arrows, is he going anywhere else? Only time will tell.
