Formula 1 fans are set to see a brand new team on the grid from the 2024 season, as Red Bull has confirmed that their sister team will no longer continue under the name of AlphaTauri. Even though there has not been any announcement regarding what the new name would be, fans have already made their voice heard regarding how they see the future of AlphaTauri.
The announcement was made by Red Bull’s chief advisor Helmut Marko, who made it clear that apart from a new name, the team would also be taking on a new strategy. Talking to the Austrian news outlet Kleine Zeitung, Marko confirmed, “There will be new sponsors and a new name.”
🚨 BREAKING: AlphaTauri will no longer go by the name AlphaTauri in Formula 1 from 2024 onwards

“The course is clear: Follow Red Bull Racing as far as the regulations allow. Designing your own is not the way.

He also explained that the team would try to follow Red Bull’s approach towards engineering F1 cars as much as the regulations would allow them to. AlphaTauri had a similar approach during their early days, however, as of now, they have tried to drift away from the Red Bull philosophy and engineer their own components. It is evident that this approach is not working and the Red Bull management wants to revert back to their old ways.
Fans want Alpha Tauri to return to their old ways
Amidst all the speculations about what AlphaTauri might be rebranded as fans have expressed their clear opinion. The majority of fans want to see the return of Toro Rosso.
Twitter user Sone made it clear that according to them there is “only one right answer” to what the new team should be named. And that is Toro Rosso.

AlphaTauri and their F1 struggles
Toro Rosso was renamed at the start of the 2020 season after Red Bull’s clothing brand AlphaTauri. However, ever since then, the Italian team hasn’t had much success.
The clothing brand itself is running at a loss, and it does not make sense to finance a whole F1 team to advertise a brand that only operates in a select few locations. Therefore, a change was much needed.
Helmut Marko on Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck De Vries’ season so far :
“Yuki is having a very good season, with unfortunate results and penalties – but the performances are good.
“But we’re not satisfied with Nyck de Vries, we’ll look into that.” pic.twitter.com/PfBph0ZCr7

AlphaTauri is currently sitting dead last in the Constructor’s championship with only two points to their name, both of them scored by Yuki Tsunoda. Their new recruit Nyck DeVries hasn’t had the start to the season that he wanted. Therefore, it is to be seen if AlphaTauri opt for new drivers to go alongside their new identity.
