According to his father, Anthony, Lewis Hamilton may have just reached a lucrative contract extension with Mercedes. Anthony appeared in a conversation with the BBC after the British GP and shed light on Lewis’ potential $250,000,000 deal.
The Daily Mail recently reported that the 38-year-old’s latest contract demands not only includes a five-year driver contract but also an ambassadorial role with Mercedes for the future. Since the ambassadorial role will require more people than Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff to sign on it, the two parties have still not agreed.

Irrespective of what happens on the contract front, it has not affected Hamilton’s performance on the track. The Briton had a great race in his home Grand Prix, finishing third despite dropping to ninth at one stage. Since everything seems to be going well racing-wise, the two parties will likely agree soon on the contract.
Anthony reveals Lewis Hamilton could reach an agreement soon
While speaking on BBC’s Chequered Flag podcast, Rossana revealed that she recently had a chat with Anthony Hamilton, who revealed that Lewis Hamilton should reach an agreement with Mercedes soon. “He (Anthony) said that it is looking like the contract will be signed soon,” revealed Rossana.
And it seems that Lewis himself wants to extend his contract with Mercedes. When asked by the BBC if he would visit the factory to help the team improve their performance, the 38-year-old replied, “Yes.”
Hamilton continues to showcase such dedication to improving the Silver Arrows’ performance, suggesting that it is only a matter of time before he signs a contract extension.
Mercedes has a lot to improve to catch up to leaders Red Bull
After eight years of domination from 2014 to 2021, Mercedes lost their leadership position to Red Bull, who have been utterly dominant for over a season. And Red Bull’s dominance is evident since they have won all ten races of the 2023 season so far.
Hence, if the Silver Arrows are to catch up to Red Bull, they have a lot of work to do. And one person who can help them return to the top is the seven-time Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton.
Ahead of this season, the 38-year-old slammed his team for not listening to him despite his years of experience in championship-winning sides. Hamilton believes that this experience has helped him gather enough knowledge of what can help produce a strong car and what may not have the desired effect.
Since there was a conflict between Hamilton and the team, surprising reports also emerged about him considering a move to rivals Ferrari. However, as Mercedes continues to move from strength to strength, it seems that Hamilton is now committed to the team and is likely to sign a contract extension soon.
