“As far as I’m aware, he carries on racing”- Lewis Hamilton’s father drops a career update while there is a contract uncertainty with Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton has dominated Formula 1 for the last seven years, but his alliance with Mercedes may come to an unexpected end amidst the contact uncertainty.
However, his father Anthony Hamilton now has given a crucial career update, and according to him, Lewis will keep on racing as he is not ready as of now to retire from the motorsport.
“As far as I’m aware, he carries on racing,” he said as per the Express. “He loves racing; he loves what he does. He has a voice now in the sport, which is also fantastic, but as far as I’m aware he’s carrying on racing.
“It’s a definite, as far as I know, the last time I spoke to him yesterday, he’s definitely carrying on racing.” If not Mercedes, other teams would die to have Hamilton, but as for 2021, there is no other team with a vacant spot. So, he has to agree on terms with Mercedes or wait until the end of the season.
Not targets but dreams
Hamilton’s father also further claimed that his son doesn’t want to remain in F1 to chase any targets; rather, his dreams keep him motivated.
“It’s nothing to do with targets,” he added. “He’s not racing for trophies; he races because he loves what he does, and also he loves to inspire others. At the moment of his achievements, we hope, are inspiring young kids who have dreams they want to achieve.”
Hamilton recently equalled Michael Schumacher’s record of the most championship wins, and if he gets another season with Mercedes, he might overtake it to further bolster his legacy. Meanwhile, the Brackley based team see a fitting replacement in George Russell, if the former doesn’t continue.
