Many drivers switched to Twitch to keep themselves occupied during the uncertain months of lockdown. According to Lando Norris: A Biography book, the McLaren Formula 1 driver used his Twitch channel to raise $2,200,000 for COVID-19 relief efforts from his 1.5 million followers and other celebrities he collaborated with.

Streaming on Twitch allowed him to connect with thousands of people, answer questions, and share his experiences.  Norris felt that there had been a natural change in his character and maturity because of the interactions that they had with the fans.

The Brit entertained his fans on Twitch by playing games such as F1 2019, Rocket League, and iRacing. But in a Twitch event where he participated with multiple celebs from several walks of life, he made a deep impact during the pandemic.

Norris’s efforts helped a lot of people

Norris used his Twitch stream to make a bigger effect than games. The McLaren driver took part in Twitch’s ‘Stream Aid’ event, where he shaved off his hair to raise money for corona charities. Norris’s efforts made a huge difference in the fight against COVID-19.

Norris took part in a Twitch stream along with musicians and celebrities. Together, they all raised more than $2,200,000 for the Covid Solidarity Fund.

Despite facing scorn from some fans, The McLaren driver also used his platform to discuss important social issues like Black Lives Matter. Through Twitch, Norris stated he realized the impact he could make in raising awareness and supporting charities.

Norris shaves his head after raising more than $12,000 for COVID-19

During his ‘Stream Aid’ gig on Twitch in 2020, Lando Norris took his fan engagement to a new level when he went live on Twitch and declared that if he could raise $10,000 for charity, he would shave his head.

Fans of Norris immediately rose to the challenge, and within hours, he met his fundraising goal. An anonymous donor also gave $700 to help him reach his milestone. True to his words, Norris shaved her head live on Twitch, raising over $12,000 for the COVID-19 effort.

Norris managed to attract more than 136,000 unique, generous donors to the coronavirus relief effort. However, The British driver never took up similar challenges after going bald once.
