“Daddy” Fernando Alonso Gets Into a Verbal Spat With Spanish Soccer Legend Iker Casillas on Tik Tok

Among all the F1 drivers today, no one is as active on Tik Tok as Fernando Alonso is. The two-time F1 world champion posts many videos on the social platform, and his humor is well appreciated by fans. Recently, however, he got into a friendly spat with Real Madrid and Spanish soccer legend Iker Casillas.

Casillas, like Alonso, is a huge fan and avid user of Tik Tok. Looking at the Aston Martin driver’s increase in popularity on the platform, Casillas released a video mocking him. The former soccer goalkeeper recently hit five million followers, and made a threat to Alonso, asking him to stay within his limits.

Jokingly, Casillas released a video saying that he was “angry” with Alonso. Being smug about his recent milestone of 5 million followers, he says that he is keeping an eye on Alonso, and asks him to not chase him on Tik Tok. In his video, the 2010 FIFA World Cup winning captain said

“Don’t go too far, darling! Here, the daddy of TikTok is me.”

Fernando Alonso gives a savage reply to Iker Casillas

Alonso has been a lifelong fan of Real Madrid and hasn’t hidden his love for the club even when he’s in F1. At the Monaco GP last year, he celebrated the team’s UEFA Champions League title win by wearing a Madrid jersey to the paddock.

Hence, Alonso being one of the most popular athletes in Spain is on good terms with Casillas, a legend of Real Madrid who has 725 appearances for the club. However. that did not stop the Oviedo-born driver from hitting back at Casillas. Unlike the latter, Alonso just put up a message that had three words, “Papá está aquí” which in English translates to “Daddy is here“.

Season of redemption for Alonso

Like Casillas, Alonso is also 41 years old, but isn’t retired from the sport that made him the star he is today. He returned to F1 in 2021 at the age of 39, but made it clear that his aim was to return to the front of the grid and fight for wins and podiums.

So far, he hasn’t got a race win since returning, but has four podium finishes in five races this year. This is his best start to a season in F1 since 2013, when he was driving for Ferrari, and has made Alonso even more motivated to continue for a few more years.

Casillas meanwhile, retired from professional soccer at the end of the 2019 season, after a career-ending heart attack sidelined him from action during his FC Porto Spell.
