Debut F1 Car of Michael Schumacher Worth $2.1 Million Up for Sale

Just 18 months after it was last sold, the debut F1 car of Michael Schumacher is up for sale again. The 1991 Jordan had been driven by the German legend at Spa Francorchamps 1991.

The chassis on the car is the actual one that was used by the 7-time world champion during his debut. He had qualified seventh for the race but failed to finish the race after suffering a clutch failure.

The car featured a V6 650bhp Ford HB engine which was rebuilt by Langford Performance Engineering. Having been resold many times, the car remains in perfect condition and is expected to be sold between $1.5 Million to $2.1 Million.

Bonhams will be selling the car at the upcoming Les Grandes  Marques Du Monde A Paris on 2nd February.

The car had already been sold to a Belgian car collector Jean ‘Beurlys’ Blaton. After that, the car was sold to Didier Siruge in 2005.

The car was presented in the BOSS F1 series and at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was also driven recently by Mick Schumacher, son of Michael, and former F1 driver Karun Chandhok at the Silverstone circuit in 2022.

Making his debut in this car, Schumacher was replacing Bertrand Gachot after the Frenchman got himself into some legal trouble. The 1991 Jordan is one of seven 191 cars that were built and driven by Alex Zanardi and Andrea De Cesaris during the 1991 season.

Michael Schumacher Ferrari breaks auction records

Schumacher’s sixth championship-winning Ferrari broke records to become the most expensive F1 car to be auctioned in history.

The F2003-GA was sold for $14.9 Million doubling the previous record auction price of an F1 car. The previous car was also one of Schumacher’s F1 – F2001 – and it had fetched $7.5 Million in 2017.

The F2003 had helped Schumacher score 5 race wins, 2 podiums and 3 pole positions. The German legend finished just 2 points ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in the championship standings in that season and claimed his 6th championship title.
