"Everybody Is A Ferrari Fan": Max Verstappen Spotted Buying $800,000 Ferrari

Max Verstappen is arguably the most in form driver in F1 today. The Dutch driver is heading into the 2023 season on the back of two consecutive Title winning campaigns, and he has surpassed the legendary career of Fernando Alonso at just 25 years old.

Verstappen made his F1 debut back in 2015 with Toro Rosso, a sister team of Red Bull’s. Since then, he spent the entirety of his F1 journey with the Red Bull family, making his full debut for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit in 2016.

He is the face of the team, and after spending the best part of a decade under Mercedes shadow, Verstappen brought them back to the top by winning the 2021 Title.

However, no matter how good you are for a team, ‘everybody is a Ferrari fan.’ This was a comment made by former Red Bull driver and four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel.

Max Verstappen buys his second Ferrari for $800,000

Ferrari is the most successful team in F1 history. They have the most number of drivers’ and constructors’ championships of all teams, but are going through a rough patch as of late. Despite not winning the Championship for 15 years, they have one of the most passionate fanbases.

Even other drivers in F1, like Lewis Hamilton, have repeatedly insisted on how much they admire the prancing horses. It seems that Verstappen too is a huge fan of Ferrari when he’s not sporting the Red Bull overalls.

Verstappen already has a Ferrari in his garage, the $1.75 million Monza SP2. However, he was recently spotted at a dealership in Monte Carlo, trying out another one of their cars. This will be his second Ferrari purchase. Verstappen is buying the SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano this time, which costs $800,000.

Verstappen looking to fend off Ferrari & Mercedes challenge on track

In 2022, Ferrari gave Verstappen a run for his money in the opening few races. However, that challenge faded away quickly, and Verstappen coasted towards his second Title win. He also didn’t face any resistance from Mercedes, a team on his tail for the entirety of 2021.

Heading into 2023, however, most experts predict that Mercedes and Ferrari will return to the front of the grid. On top of that, Red Bull’s cost cap penalties mean that they will have lesser development time at their disposal.

The 25-year-old hopes to use his experience to deal with any threat Ferrari and Mercedes throw toward him.
