F1 Veteran Argues Max Verstappen’s Domination Shall Be Glorified Like Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton

After winning four races in the last six outings, Max Verstappen has continued his domination as the Red Bull star remained unchallenged in Barcelona. As the Dutchman won again, Martin Brundle delivered huge public advice for the viewers amidst the boring season criticisms.

The Dutchman took an emphatic victory at the Circuit de Catalunya to take his victory to five this year and further extend his lead. Verstappen took the pole on Saturday, led every lap, and in the end, took the Chequered Flag with 24 seconds gap to P2.

The 25-year-old was in complete control of his car throughout the race. Apart from Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz challenging him to go around the outside on turn 1 of the first lap, there was no turning back for the defending champion.

With this win, the 25-year-old extended his career race victories to 40 and a staggering 20 wins in the last 30 races, almost two-thirds of every race in Formula 1 recently.

Brundle hails Verstappen show

As the two-time world champion took the Chequered Flag in Spain, the F1 veteran began to share words of praise for the Dutchman, something he did back in the Schumacher, Vettel, and Hamilton days.

As per Sky Sports, he said, “I remember saying this when Michael Schumacher dominated, Lewis Hamilton dominating, Sebastian Vettel dominating. You have got to enjoy the excellence of it, the brilliance.”

I know it doesn’t energize some of the races, but you are a witness to it. You are witnessing great sports folk delivering incredible performances.” Brundle added.

How Verstappen went on to take the dominant baton from Schumacher, Vettel, and Hamilton?

With Verstappen leading the domination chart in present times, the sport has seen different drivers do the same at different times. With Brundle witnessing all of them, their dominance made the sport “boring” for general fans.

From the seven-time world champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton to four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, these F1 icons were unstoppable during their heydays.

Schumacher’s period of dominance was from 2000 to 2004 when he won five back-to-back titles with Ferrari. In between, Vettel, the Red Bull star, dominated from 2010 to 2013, winning four back-to-back championships.

Hamilton, the British driver, was the person to beat from 2014 to 2020; in between, Nico Rosberg dented his hegemony during the 2016 season. And Max Verstappen snatched the F1 crown from the Mercedes star in 2021, and from there on, he’s the reigning champion of Formula 1.
