Fernando Alonso Claims Aston Martin Needs Two Years Before Its $258,000,000 Investment Pays Off

Lawrence Stroll reportedly paid $258,000,000 to build a new state-of-the-art facility for his team Aston Martin in Silverstone, as he intended to bring everything concerning his outfit under one roof. However, the star driver of the team Fernando Alonso believes it will take at least two years before this massive investment becomes fully useful.

When completed, the new 400,000-square-foot factory at the Dadford Road area of Silverstone will feature a three-building facility that will be used to serve different purposes. One will have the wind tunnel which will help the aero department of the team. Another building will become the ‘central hub’ for staff activities, and will also serve as the logistics base. Currently, only one building is operational. This houses the design, marketing, and manufacturing division. This will be a massive upgrade from Jordan’s 1991 factory they have been using for a long time.

Alonso believes this investment will be of great help and will provide the team with some much-needed impetus. However, fully utilizing the benefits from this project will take a lot of time, feels Alonso.

Fernando Alonso believes in the goal, but it will take time, he says

Upon visiting Silverstone ahead of the British GP, Alonso took a tour of the factory. During the visit, he was very impressed by the infrastructure and was also hopeful about the team’s future.

Following his tour, the Oviedo-born driver said, “It was fascinating to see the facilities. The people there in the same room, manufacturing our own parts of the car.” Alonso, then added as per Speedcafe, “But I think we will need a couple of years to settle everything down and to maximize the potential.”

Aston Martin has already shown tremendous progress over the last few months. Now, with, big things planned for the future, Alonso expects even more progress. He also lauded Lawrence Stroll’s efforts and his seriousness in turning the Silverstone-based outfit into championship contenders.

Stroll targeted more than just win with massive investment

Stroll has already invested a lot in the team. However, he always stated that wanted to go for more. Stroll wants his team to fight for world championships in the future, and the progress they have shown is encouraging to say the least.

They finished P7 in the 2022 Championship, but are currently P3 this year. Aston Martin is in the midst of a title battle with Ferrari, Mercedes and potentially even McLaren.

As for Fernando Alonso, he will be happy to be on the journey even if finds himself not competing for the title with Aston Martin. All in all, it will take quite a bit of time for them to get to the top, but it’s something that everyone at Aston Martin is looking forward to.
