Fernando Alonso reveals how 'old age' and F1's evolution forced lifestyle change

Fernando Alonso is the oldest driver on the grid aged 41-year-old but despite that, he has no plans to take a leave from the sport.

Alonso who is set to race with the Aston Martin F1 team in the 2023 season, however, admits that he is not 20 anymore. Therefore to be able to stay fit for F1 he had to make multiple lifestyle changes.

The 2-time world champion is considered one of the best on the grid and he is well revered by his peers. In the 2022 season, Alonso finished ninth in the standings despite facing the horrendous reliability problems of the Alpine.

The Spaniard believes that Alpine has thrown away multiple chances of winning podiums due to their own faults. He said that he should have been at least 60 points ahead of any other midfield driver.

What are the changes that Fernando Alonso brought to his lifestyle?

Alonso revealed to the media that he had to change the physical aspects of his routine to be able to compete in F1 at the age of 41.

He said that in the physical aspect, Alonso has to do much more than he is used to because he is not 20 anymore.

Given that F1 is very demanding on energy off the track as well, he has to be much more efficient on more things that he does on the weekends or during the week.

The Spaniard is eyeing 3rd championship title

Being the oldest driver on the grid, Alonso has been questioned about his retirement plans on multiple occasions. But the Spaniard has the same response of having no plans to retire anytime soon.

Moreover, he proclaims that if he puts everything into it and gets a championship-winning car he will be able to battle for his third title in the sport.

Therefore, with his contract with Alpine ending in the 2022 season, Alonso was looking for a drive at a team who had a more competitive package.

The Spaniard then decided to replace the 4-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel from Aston Martin, who had decided to retire.
