Six years ago, Lawrence Stroll led a consortium that saved today’s Aston Martin F1 team. Even though the Canadian billionaire didn’t exactly save the British brand directly, his move back in 2018 helped the renowned manufacturer survive and thrive to this day.
Stroll, along with a number of investors, bought the Force India F1 team and rebranded it to Racing Point in 2019. The Canadian himself invested around $231,536,760 in the team, which is now thriving as Aston Martin.
Following the investment, Aston Martin in both the luxury car market and in the F1 circuit, sustained considerably, and for this, the Canadian businessman believes he deserves nothing but the Knighthood by the British government.
As per Autocar, Stroll raised over $1.9 billion in investment for the car company, and in doing so, the average sale price of the car rose to the expected £223,000 in 2023 from £157,000 in 2020.
Lawrence Stroll believes he should be Knighted
Along with saving the team, the 63-year-old also heavily invested in the Aston Martin factory back in the United Kingdom. His investment secured thousands of jobs in the new state-of-the-art facility in Silverstone.
And due to this, Lawrence Stroll firmly believes he should be knighted. As per Autocar, the chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda also revealed that he saved thousands of jobs and built a new F1 factory with hundreds of millions of investments.

From a mid-table team that was on its way to perish, Stroll saved it with his money and now the team is competing with the likes of Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes for the Championship.
With 154 points this season, Aston Martin are currently 3rd in the Constructors’ Championship, which assures their best finish point wise. The Silverstone-based team managed to finish only 7th in the last two seasons with 77 and 55 points respectively.
Stroll’s objective with Aston Martin
The Canadian also enticed Chinese carmaker Geely, who owns Volvo, to invest in Aston Martin. With this, the Canadian businessman increased the investment in the team by multiple folds.
Speaking of why de decided to invest in the company, he said, “A huge show of my belief in the company. One doesn’t put that money into a business they don’t believe in the future of.”
In the end, the Silverstone-based team has also tied up with Honda from the 2026 F1 season, following the new upcoming regulations. With this move, it is believed that the British constructors are eager to stay on top, for seasons to come.
