The Merc AMG 1 is one of the most distinguished and fastest cars in the market. The car is so astonishing that it has caught everyone’s attention. It seems that Mercedes F1 driver George Russell too has his eyes set on the $2,720,000 worth car. The 25-year-old recently revealed the same via Mercedes’ YouTube handle while he was answering some of the internet’s most searched questions. While the young Briton has his eyes set on this vehicle, it is pertinent to note that one of the car’s engines did explode and burn into ashes two months ago.

Despite the shocking incident, Russell still seems keen on getting his hands on the Merc Project 1. In the video, he also explained how he has had some excellent Mercedes cars since he is a driver of the team. Among all the cars that he has owned, the GTR is his favorite.

He then concluded his remarks by stating that he’s hoping to get the Merc Project 1 sometime in the future. However, he will need to buy it in resale as this the limited edition car is already sold out. Mercedes have only produced 275 units of it, two of which Lewis Hamilton and his father, Anthony Hamilton, own.

George Russell hopes to get his hands on the limited edition Merc Project 1

The Merc Project 1 is one of a kind as an F1 engine runs this road car. It is powered by a hybridized 1.6-litre V6, an engine that helped Mercedes win multiple world championships.

This car went under production in 2017, the year Lewis Hamilton won his fourth Drivers’ Championship. This luxurious hypercar costs a whopping $2,720,000. However, despite it being a hypercar, one of its engines shockingly blew up back in May.

The Silver Arrows are still carrying an investigation into why this incident took place. It remains to be seen if George Russell will still be keen or not to get his hands on this car considering the events that transpired. On the other hand, keeping this aside, he still has plenty of other cars in his collection to boast about.

What cars does Russell own?

According to a report issued by carhp.com, George Russell owns at least six luxurious cars. One of them is the Mercedes-AMG C63 that costs around $69,600. This car is powered by a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine and has a horsepower of 469 hp.

Another car that the Briton owns is a Mercedes-AMG C63 S. This car approximately costs $77,250 and is also powered by a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This car has a horsepower of 503 hp and a top speed of 180 mph.

However, it is pertinent to note that Russell just does not own Mercedes‘ but also owns other top brands. One of them is the McLaren GT. This car costs around a staggering $215,000. This car also is powered by a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It has a horsepower of 612 hp and a top speed of 203 mph.

However, none of Russell’s cars come close to the Ferrari 812 he owns. This car costs approximately $405,450 and is by far the most expensive car that the 25-year-old possess. This car is powered by a 6L twin-turbocharged W12 engine and has a horsepower of 788 hp. It also has a top speed of 211 mph and can travel from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds.
