After a trailblazing year, George Russell decided to wind off 2022 with his girlfriend Carmen Mundt. The couple attended the annual FIA Gala together and spent the last few days of the year partying and enjoying.

The duo have been dating for almost a year now. Mundt, 25 has been spotted numerous times in the paddock and on Russell’s social media. The two spent Christmas eve at Russell’s home, with the driver sporting the Mercedes sweater.

But for the latter hours of the day, Russell enjoyed the company of another F1 great. The Briton posted a story on his Instagram partying hard in Ibiza with 2-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso.

In the picture, Alonso and Russell were spotted partying hard and even smoking cigars as they welcome 2023 in style. And fans can’t stop going crazy over this unexpected reunion!

The 41-year-old Spaniard has quite a reputation for being a party animal. And if that’s true, Russell might have some good company to welcome the new year.

2022 a new high for George Russell

George Russell was undoubtedly one of the star performers of the year. The 34-year-old managed to stun and impress fans and critics alike with his consistent performances throughout his rookie season with Mercedes.

Russell was paired up with the 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, replacing Valterri Bottas. And in a high-stakes environment, driving a car that has secured 8 consecutive Constructors championship titles, adaptability is key.

And George adapted beautifully to a struggling W13. The Briton managed to produce consistent results in a new-age car that struggled to find pace and performance for most of the early part of 2022.

Russell’s string of 16 straight top-5 finishes and 8 podiums allowed Mercedes to find momentum. He also delivered the first win for the team, by claiming victory in the 2022 Brazilian GP.

Russell also managed to outperform his senior teammate Hamilton by beating him in the championship, which is not an easy feat for a newcomer. And by ending the season  4th in the standings, he is a force to reckon with for the next season.
