How Aston Martin Boss Lawrence Stroll Made Lewis Hamilton’s Biggest Sponsor $450,000,000 Rich

Aston Martin F1 owner Lawrence Stroll is one of the wealthiest businessmen in the Formula 1 fraternity with a net worth of a whopping $3.7 billion as per Forbes’ 2023 list. The Canadian businessman has made a fortune by investing in some of the biggest global brands. Among all the brands that Stroll has invested in, interestingly, he also funded Lewis Hamilton’s biggest sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger.

The British driver has close ties with this fashion brand as he has also collaborated with them to launch his clothing line, TommyXLewis. And that is not it, as Hamilton also has his biography page on this brand.

Tommy Hilfiger – one of the biggest fashion brands in the world today – has helped its owner, Tommy Hilfiger, earn a fortune. According to the Financial Express, the American fashion designer has a staggering net worth of $450,000,000.

Hamilton is the global ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger and began endorsing the brand in 2018. As per chaseyoursport.com, the Briton earns $12 million just from his endorsements. Considering that a seven-time world champion is one of the many representing Tommy Hilfiger, Stroll seems to have made an outstanding investment.

How did Lawrence Stroll help Tommy Hilfiger?

According to Business F1, Lawrence Stroll along with Hong Kong businessman Silas Chou helped Tommy Hilfiger during his early days. At the time, the American designer “was an up-and-coming designer” and needed capital.

The report adds that since Hilfiger “was a very talented designer but a lousy businessman,” Stroll and Chou thought it was a great investment to finance the American. And after doing so, Stroll and Chou helped Tommy Hilfiger grow its sales from $25 million to $2 billion.

With Stroll’s investments paying off, he used his returns to improve his lifestyle. As a result, the Canadian, who was in his mid-30s at the time, purchased a few Ferraris. And it is not just Stroll, who reaped the benefits of his investments, but also Hilfiger and Lewis Hamilton.

Hilfiger has earned a fortune from his business, while Hamilton has a lucrative endorsement deal with the brand. While Stroll has made fantastic investments in the fashion industry over his career, it is pertinent to note that being a businessman was not his first choice.

Stroll desired to become a racing driver

According to Business F1, Lawrence Stroll wanted to become a racing driver. However, his father, Leo Strullovich, was not prepared to gamble as he believed that his son’s (as quoted by Business F1) “chances of becoming a Formula One driver were three million to one.

Instead, Strullovich taught the Canadian billionaire the art of running a fashion business. Strullovich was famous in this industry as he had franchises for some of the biggest fashion brands, such as Pierre Cardin and Ralph Lauren.
