“I heard he was a tricky team-mate”– Esteban Ocon was told Fernando Alonso plays mind games with his teammates
“I heard he was a tricky team-mate”– Esteban Ocon has discovered a very different teammate than what the world told him.
Formula 1 on Sunday witnessed one of the most wholesome moments in the history of Renault owned group Alpine, as Esteban Ocon registered a win for the French team.
A decisive figure in Ocon’s win was Alonso, who went wheel to wheel to defend against Lewis Hamilton and buy some time for his teammate to cement his victory.
When the win was confirmed, both Ocon and Alonso embraced each other while the world witnessed their team’s glory after 13 years. Speaking on Alonso, Ocon said several myths on the Spaniard were busted this year.

“I told many different media about Fernando about what I heard before he came to the team,” said Ocon, partnered with Alonso for the first time this season after the two-time world champion returned to F1.
“We spoke about it together as well. I heard he was a tricky team-mate to work with, I heard he was playing tricks, he was not fair with the team-mates inside, he was ruthless.
“The times I am having with Fernando are fantastic. We are a great duo sharing information, pushing the team towards the same goal, which is winning in the future. That’s what we want to be.
“I’m proud to be working with him, it’s a privilege, he’s such a legend and I hope we can share together more podiums.”
The pursuit for the win was not tougher than normal midfield battles
Ocon then talks about the pressure he sustained against Sebastian Vettel, who was within the DRS range for most of their battle, yet Ocon maintained his position, but it was easier than most of the midfield for him battles he has fought.
“I had some much harder races in the midfield pack, which were harder to manage with more pressures than this race. Seb was very close, but when we are racing at the front, you only have to look back; you don’t have to look in the front.
