"I think he just gives us"– Red Bull boss reveals what Sergio Perez offers would have not been given by Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon

“I think he just gives us”– Red Bull boss Christian Horner reveals what Sergio Perez has added to the team, which has taken them a step ahead.

Red Bull hired Sergio Perez and removed Alex Albon from the starting position this year; it was a critical call on Red Bull, as only a few months ago, they demoted Pierre Gasly only after 12 races.

Thus, if this move would have gone wrong, the management of Helmut Marko-Christian Horner would have been questioned. Luckily, Perez has managed to settle himself and to bring in the required amount of points.

Speaking on the influence Perez has brought in for Red Bull, which has now put them on the winning path, Horner believes that it is the decade long experience of his, which is doing the wonder.

“I think he just gives us that experience,” Horner told the Beyond the Grid podcast. “He’s got 10 years worth of experience. He’s got an ability to manage the tyres within a race that is second to none. It just brings a different dynamic into the line-up.

“Both Pierre and Alex are tremendously gifted drivers, but timing just wasn’t right. Then the pressured environment that we have, and the expectation, it was very tough for them.”

Playing the role efficiently.

While Gasly is now overperforming in Alpha Tauri and Albon waiting for his second chance, it still seems distant for both to have another go for the second Red Bull seat at least till 2023.

The Mexican star has brought in satisfactory results, including a win, which has helped him to be perceived as the right man to partner with Verstappen.

He most probably would get the one-year extension which Red Bull has kept as an option in his current contract. Therefore, it would be better for Gasly and Albon to look for teams to get justifiable opportunities.
