"It's all gone horribly wrong for Ferrari"– F1 Twitter stunned as Charles Leclerc loses podium after hitting barriers while desperately hunting Sergio Perez

Charles Leclerc hits himself into the barriers in the final phase of the race while attempting to snatch P2 from Sergio Perez in Imola.

It was supposed to be Ferrari night. But destiny had other plans. First Carlos Sainz got a DNF in the very first lap of the race, then Charles Leclerc hit the wall while losing control on the sausage kerb to lose his podium position.

The Monegasque race driver got soft tyres to hunt down Perez who was already losing time against him. In response, the Mexican race driver also went to the pit on the next lap.

Failing to achieve the undercut, Leclerc still had a little gap to overcome. While the two were competing, Leclerc was getting into the DRS zone against Perez.

And in that desperation, he lost control at the sausage kerb. Thus, compelling the Ferrari star to hit the barriers right before the final laps of the race.

Leclerc fully damaged his front wing, which forced him to pit again. The Monegasque then trickled down to six places down. On the other hand, Lando Norris saw himself promoted to the P3.

Though, Leclerc managed to do damage limitation by ending the race at P6. But with Max Verstappen scoring the maximum 34 points ts available this weekend. It’s a big hit to the 24-year-old.

Charles Leclerc to learn from this

The result shouldn’t be the summary of the result. Leclerc gave an amazing performance in Imola. But one small error cost him his possible objectives for this week.

Moreover, losing like this at Ferrari’s home track would have further made him feel gutted. Leclerc after the race apologized to his team. In response, his race engineer said that the team will learn from this.

Now, F1 will travel to Miami for the next race, where Ferrari would be hoping to bounce back from their first setback of this season.
