“It’s important to have both cars in the points” – Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez forming an enviable partnership at Red Bull
“It’s important to have both cars in the points” – Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez seem to have finally solved the team combination problem for Red Bull, and it looks set to continue into next season.
Max Verstappen says he is happy with Sergio Perez, after unsuccessful stints with Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, and Alex Albon. He did add, however, that he is not very concerned with who his teammate is, but that’s Verstappen for you – focused on his job.
“It doesn’t matter who my team-mate is. I always believe in myself and I’m confident that I can always do a job, so for me it doesn’t matter who they put next to me.
“It’s good to have a challenge, but I’m also very happy with Checo at the moment. He is doing a great job. In the second race in Austria he was very unfortunate of course.
“He has also shown in the races before that he is a great addition to the team. It’s important to have both cars in the points.”

Sergio Perez relaxed about his Red Bull future
This season, Perez is calm about his future, unlike last, when Perez was unsure after being released by Racing Point. It’s only a formality before Red Bull extend their contract with him. He has scored 104 points this season, adding to the 187 Verstappen has scored.
“Obviously, the sooner you know your future the better. But I am in a very comfortable position within the team, with my future, so nothing to worry about.
“I think by Belgium [August 27-29] I will know my future, so I am comfortable how things are and [there is] no reason to look elsewhere.”
