Max Verstappen once took Daniel Ricciardo aback with a shocking revelation about his father, Jos Verstappen. The Dutchman unraveled a dark secret to the Australian during their time together in Red Bull, which traumatized Ricciardo for a while.
Verstappen Sr. has always been a tough father to the two-time world champion. Ever since his karting days, the Hasselt-born was strictly mentored under the former F1 driver.
Verstappen, on the other hand, has never shied away from accepting the hardships he went through in his upbringing. With his father always being there as a prominent guard, there was no scope for mistakes.
Apart from this, Jos Verstappen was also a hot-headed man, who got himself involved in multiple brawls and allegations. The 25-year-old, while playing a game with his then-teammate, revealed one such incident back in 2018.
Jos Verstappen’s ordeal traumatized Ricciardo
In a video released by the Red Bull Racing F1 team on YouTube, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo took the screen to do an interesting job ahead of the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix.
As the Smash ‘N’ Crab job started where the Red Bull stars were given two pieces of large crabs to compete in The Chilli Crab Challenge, the Dutch pilot shared something, which took the Honey Badger by utter surprise.
With forks in their hands, Ricciardo faked injuring his teammate, who in return faked his pain. As soon as the ordeal got over, Verstappen said, “My dad did that once to a mechanic, with a fork.”
This not only surprised the eight-time GP winner but also made him pause for a moment and analyze the whole scenario. All in all, it was nothing but a gruesomely unheard anecdote by Jos Verstappen, which is enough to make everyone raise their eyebrows.
Jos Verstappen was once arrested for attempted murder
Leaving aside how gruesome the act was, Verstappen Sr. was once in the news for a murder attempt! Back in January 2012, it was reported that the father of a two-time world champion was arrested for driving into his ex-girlfriend.
The incident took place in the Dutch city of Roermond and he was released after two weeks in jail due to lack of evidence.
Apart from this, the 51-year-old was also reported by The Sun to have assaulted his unnamed 24-year-old girlfriend in a hotel room in Venlo, the Netherlands.
