Max Verstappen says he is 'fine' with never winning any more championship titles

Red Bull ace Max Verstappen has secured 2 back to back championship titles and it has been possible with his team providing him with a championship-winning car combined with Verstappen’s resilience.

The prospects of him continuing his dominance in the years to come do not seem unlikely but again apart from racing skills there are other factors that contribute to a driver being able to claim the title.

Red Bull has been able to provide their ace with a competitive car two times in a row but if heading forward that journey suffers a hurdle, Verstappen says he would be fine with it.

Motorsport.com asked the Dutchman if he would want to keep adding titles to his rack, and he replied yes but that also requires a competitive car.

He said that now that he has won two, if he never gets the opportunity to win because of the car, then he’d be fine with it.

After the first, whatever comes next is just a bonus

In addition to winning material, Verstappen believes that a bit of luck is also required to win the titles.

After winning his maiden title in 2021 going up against 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, the Dutchman had said that After this, whatever comes next is just a boss.

With the 2nd title in his bag as well, Verstappen’s view has not changed. He revealed that he is enjoying the moment similar to last year. The pressure, hunger and need to clinch the title have gone.

Asked if winning the 2021 title changed him at all, he replied that he doesn’t think so. Verstappen said that the cars have been different and it took a bit of time to get used to it but nothing besides that.

Will Max Verstappen win the 2023 championship title?

Formula 1 saw a bit of change in the technical regulations in the 2022 season and the new 18-inch tyres were also introduced.

Red Bull and Ferrari were able to assemble the most successful car on the grid, ending Mercedes’ 8 years of dominance in the sport.

Even between Red Bull and Ferrari, the former adapted to the changes the best as Ferrari seemed to face quite a lot of reliability problems.

Based on Verstappen’s performance with the RB18 combined with only a few changes being introduced in 2023, it looks like Verstappen will still be in the lead of the championship standings in the 2023 season.

Furthermore, history is witness that when the Dutchman has a title-worthy car he has what it takes to get the lead and grab the title.
