George Russell and Lewis Hamilton tried some American pastimes during the weekend in Miami. The 7x world champion took up basketball and impressed everyone with his precise free throws. At the same time, Russell tried his hand at Football.
Russell attempted some throws at the Hard Rock Stadium and even named the 7-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. However, the attempt was rather poor, and the 25-year-old driver received some trolling from his own team on Twitter.
Mercedes trolled George Russell for a weak throw
Mercedes poked fun at their driver George Russell for his failed attempt at recreating Tom Brady’s throw. The team posted the video of Russell claiming, “Tom Brady watch out,” as he attempts a throw like the legendary NFL quarterback.

The team later cut the video and stitched it with a clip from the American animated comedy ‘The Simpsons.’ The hilarious video left fans in stitches.
A Twitter user, ‘slittleguys’ commented, “I was not expecting that finale,” To which Mercedes followed up with “Surprise.” Another user appreciated the team’s cheeky dig on their driver, writing, “I love this so much. Fantastic job, admin!”
Russell, inspired by Tom Brady and Cristiano Ronaldo, wants to race until his 40s
While George Russell might not have the throw of Tom Brady, he wishes to emulate the former NFL star’s career longevity. Brady won his last Super Bowl at the age of 43 and has won the trophy in three different decades.
In a chat with “The Ringer‘s” Kevin Clark, Russell admitted the likes of Brady and Cristiano Ronaldo inspire him. The Mercedes driver has a lot of respect and admiration for the duo, who continue to perform at their peak despite their age.
Russell said, “I think that’s probably what’s been the difference for these top guys like Tom Brady, like Cristiano. As I said for me, that’s like quite inspirational and motivates me to try and emulate what these guys are achieving. Not such an old age, but for their sport. It is awesome.”
He added, “I still want to be in F1 at the top of my game. When I’m 40 years old, it won’t be easy but I think you’ve got to put in the hard work now.”
The youngster can definitely borrow some inspiration and guidance from his teammate Lewis Hamilton. The 7x champion is 38 years old and has been in the sport since 2007. Yet, the Briton has been pushing the limits and remains on the hunt for his elusive 8th title.
