“Never Been a Driver Like Me” – Lewis Hamilton Confident of Breaking the Bad Omen of Not Winning Races After 300 Starts

Lewis Hamilton had the worst season of his entire career in the 2022 season after he failed to secure even a single win because of his underperforming W13.

After the hurtful loss of his 8th title in the final race of the 2021 season, Hamilton was hoping to make a stronger return and clinch his record-breaking title. But Mercedes stepped on the wrong foot of the new technical regulations and the W13 became a problem child.

Entering the 2023 season, the 38-year-old once again wishes to be competitive and be able to fight for the championship. Although, in Formula, there is a bad omen about drivers being unable to win a single race after 300 starts. But the 7-time world champion is not like any other driver.

When this fact was put in front of Hamilton, he confidently told Formule1.nl, “But there has never been a driver like me.”

Lewis Hamilton was not angry or frustrated by W13

At the beginning of the 2022 season, Mercedes’ team boss and drivers repeatedly told the media about their underperforming W13. But it was often reported as the team sandbagging the facts. Although, when the W13 got out on track, it was quite obvious that the team lacked pace.

Throughout the season, the team was trying to make improvements to the car, but a porpoising phenomenon hurt the drivers a lot. After racing in an entirely winless year, Hamilton revealed that he has not been angry or frustrated. Although, at one point, Hamilton admitted feeling like, “God I really can’t fight for the title with this car.”

George Russell is not worried about ruining Hamilton-relationship

In the 2022 season, both Hamilton and Russell were focused on improving the car to bring the team to the top of the grid. Because of that, the duo did not get involved in any major battle over the course of their first year together.

But there are assumptions that once the Brackley-based team has a competitive car, the duo’s relationship will get hurt as it did with Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

But Russell concedes that things will still be smooth between the duo. He believes that, if anything, their relationship will only get better over time.
