'Never Expected...': Double World Champion Max Verstappen Makes Major Revelation

Max Verstappen opens up on how he never even dreamt of winning the F1 world championship when he was a child. The Red Bull driver won two consecutive championships over the last two campaigns and absolutely dominated the last season with a record 15 wins.

In a video that has recently gone viral, the Dutchman can be seen showing off the trophy to his fans and his friends. After admiring the trophy, he says, “I never expected to have this one in my living room when I was little“.

Max Verstappen has won everything in F1 he set out to

On several occasions, Max Verstappen has explained how he has won everything in F1 he wanted to. When asked if breaking records motivates him, the Dutchman replied in an interview last year (as quoted by carandbike.com),

No. I am not interested in winning seven or eight titles. If you have the car to do so, then great. But even if it doesn’t [happen], I’m happy – I’m already happy, so it’s OK“!

In the same interview, he also explained that while he loves racing, he is keen on also trying other forms of racing. When asked what kind of racing would motivate him, he said endurance. He then concluded his remarks by stating that there is a lot he hopes to do outside of driving such as setting up his own team.

Verstappen questions if he is living a good life

Earlier this year, Max Verstappen gave a surprising interview when he questioned if he is actually ‘living a good life’ despite having had some dream seasons in F1. In an interview with Autosport, the 25-year-old explained that even though he loves racing and winning, there is a point when doing the same thing over and over again can become too much.

He then once again went on to add how there is a point in one’s career when they are keen on trying their hand at other things. Verstappen made these remarks while he was revealing his frustration against F1 and the FIA for making too many changes to the sport. During the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Dutchman slammed the concept of the sprint race by referring to it as ‘pointless’.

Max Verstappen has had a flying start to the 2023 season

Max Verstappen seems to show no signs of slowing down, as he has had a flying start to the 2023 season. After the first five GPs, the Dutchman has already won three main races and finished second in the other two. Verstappen’s dominance has been such that the lowest he has finished is third in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix sprint race.

Consequently, of these outstanding results, he has already scored a whopping 119 points. He currently has a 14-point lead in the championship from his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, with third-placed Fernando Alonso a further 30 points behind.

Considering the start Verstappen and Red Bull have had to the 2023 season, they will hope to carry on this form in the upcoming triple-header. The first of the next three races will take place in Imola from May 19 to 21.
