"No regrets, just… life” - Daniel Ricciardo doesn't rue leaving Red Bull to join Renault

“No regrets, just… life” – McLaren star Daniel Ricciardo has moved on from his bitter ending at Red Bull, and doesn’t regret his stint at Renault.

Daniel Ricciardo joined Red Bull a year after the team won four consecutive world titles with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Since then, the team has not won a single title, ensuring Daniel Ricciardo still remains without a world title. It might remain this way, considering his McLaren teammate Lando Norris has a much better shot from the ‘midfield’ teams.

But does he regret leaving the team after 2018, to move to a struggling Renault team? The answer is no, says Ricciardo, currently focusing on having a successful first season with McLaren. He is also impressed with the progress Red Bull has made since he left, as they look set to wrest the title away from Mercedes this season.

“No I don’t have regrets. I made every decision for a reason and every decision you make is a time or a moment in your life that is right or best at that time.

“I certainly don’t look back with regret or question anything but I guess it’s sort of leading towards. Look at their results this year and do I regret or think, could that have been me?

“But I look at that and I’m honestly happy for them. Don’t get me wrong I’d love to be winning but good for them, they are challenging Mercedes and they look like they are in the real hunt for the title this year.

“I briefly caught up with Christian [Horner, Red Bull boss] in Austria and a few of the Red Bull guys and I’m stoked they are doing what they’re doing but certainly no regrets, just… life.”
