“Only in India!” – Sebastian Vettel recounts hilarious elephant encounter after the Indian Grand Prix in 2013
“Only in India!” – Sebastian Vettel had a hilarious elephant story to recount from the Indian Grand Prix in 2013.
Sebastian Vettel sat down for a candid discussion at the Russian GP as part of a ‘virtual autograph session’. On-screen was his Indian fans who were eager to learn more the champ’s Indian GP exploits. The fan’s question was as follows:
“I am from India and I was at the Indian Grand Prix that you won in 2011. So what are your thoughts about the Indian Grand Prix track – the Buddh Circuit.”
The moment the question ended, Sebastian Vettel was quick to quip that he has won all the 3 Indian GPs held, all with Red Bull. He then went on to reveal a hilarious anecdote after his win in the 2013 race.
The story involves Sebastian being hungover, and hold your breath, an elephant on the road! This is how the story goes in Vettel’s words, which was posted on Formula 1’s social media handles:
“Well, I have won every race there was so, I love it. We won the championship in 2013 and we had a little bit of a party in a bar and we had some drinks and I had too many drinks and then I was driving back at some point in the morning to the airport and I was hungover and not feeling so good.”
“And then I said to my driver, please don’t tell me I’m that drunk there’s an elephant on the road. Then he said, no no there is really an elephant on the road. So this I will never forget, the elephant in the middle of the road. Only in India, yeah?”
