“Only those who drive a Mercedes can win it”- Sebastian Vettel when asked about his hopes of winning 5th championship of his career

Sebastian Vettel after the last three races is moving away from Ferrari, and his tally of 14 wins makes him the third most successful Ferrari driver. Yet he never won a championship with Ferrari.

After dominating Formula 1 for straight four years with Red Bull, there were hopes of Ferrari and Vettel together could end the madness by Mercedes, and they were close in 2017 and 2018 but failed because of the several mistakes which Mercedes never made.

Now with his time with Ferrari coming to an eclipse, he was asked in an interview whether he hopes for a title with his new team Aston Martin, which looks like a promising prospect.

“Let’s be honest, now only those who drive a Mercedes can win it. But I’m happy where I’m going, we have the potential to impress. And then in 2022 the rules will change, never say never.” he said.

True, Mercedes dominance looks intact for the next couple of years, this season the Silver Arrows cruised with the 7th title, while Lewis Hamilton bagged his own 7th Drivers’ Championship title.

Negotiations with Lawrence Stroll were honest

With only a few weeks remaining before he starts working with Aston Martin, Vettel claims he is ready to surprise everyone with his stint at the newly introduced team.

He also revealed that the negotiations with the team owner Lawrence Stroll were honest, and the spark in him to make it a successful team somewhere convinced him to join the team.

“He is a very successful man in the business, he has shown that he can make the right decisions. The negotiations were direct and honest right from the start. It is a special situation, my partner will be his son Lance. We are all very motivated,” Vettel told.
