Ferrari F1 News: Former Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo calls Sebastian Vettel "German Efficiency", confident he will bounce back

Ferrari F1 News: Daniel Ricciardo suggests Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari form this season is only a blip, and he will bounce back.

The four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel is the second-most successful driver on the grid currently, behind Lewis Hamilton. But Vettel’s season has been very different from Hamilton’s, with him struggling with performance and communication with Ferrari. This is his last season with Ferrari, and by the looks of it, a disappointing one.

But his former Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo believes Vettel has the passion and desire to make a comeback. The Australian is confident Vettel will analyse the situation well, and perform much strongly in the upcoming races. Having raced with Vettel in his prime, Ricciardo sure knows Vettel will not walk away from a problem.

“I think one thing with Seb is he’s very, it’s probably not the right word, but he’s very passionate about the sport. He loves it and I don’t think he’s a guy to just scrunch up a piece of paper and throw it in the bin and just be like whatever.

“He’s someone who is going to analyse everything and find a way to improve or find an answer to a question. I don’t think he’s the guy to just walk away from a problem.”

Sebastian Vettel is “German efficiency”

He went on to speak about Vettel’s love for F1, something which the German himself has spoken of multiple times. Ricciardo went on to reminisce about his time with Red Bull, and how he enjoyed being his teammate, and otherwise as a competitor.

“I think he cares too much. Whether it’s a pure love for the sport or whether it’s about himself, pride he has in himself.”

“He’s just German efficiency I guess.”

“I expect him to bounce back, I certainly do. I think in the sport, I’ve enjoyed being not only a team-mate but for sure a competitor with him.”

What next for Vettel?

Ricciardo also gave his opinion on the million-dollar question: Where will Vettel be next season? According to Ricciardo, he has believed right from the time Ferrari announced his departure that Vettel will continue in the sport. There are strong indications that Vettel will move to Aston Martin next season, as a replacement to Sergio Perez. Ricciardo would be very pleased with it, calling Vettel “good for the sport”.

“I said it really from the start when the Ferrari news got announced, if he wants to keep doing it and if he believes he can keep doing it at the top level that he has shown in the last ten years, then 100 per cent, he should stay in the sport.”

“He’s good for the sport and that’s up to him to answer, but I do expect him to bounce back.”
