Fernando Alonso is one of the greatest race drivers ever to grace Formula 1. While he remained unlucky in many of his campaigns, he still has two world titles, and more than 30 race wins under his belt. A figure many F1 drivers would die to have.
Even at 41, he isn’t ready to put his feet down from the clutch and wants to continue in the sport. Next year, he will be racing at Aston Martin, teaming with Lance Stroll.
The Silverstone-based team bosses thought he was the like-to-like replacement of Sebastian Vettel. With Alonso’s experience, they would have a chance to contend for the title before he finally decides to leave.

Fernando Alonso is not slowing down
In 2018, Alonso didn’t retire from the sport, but it felt like retirement with the heroic reception he received. Many believed his time in the sport was over, as he was touted as too old to compete in it. No other team apparently wanted him.
However, two seasons later, the Spaniard returned with Alpine and showed he still had it. He is now with Aston Martin, with two fairly decent campaigns, preparing for the next season.
Now, in one of the videos released online by his new team, where he can be seen working on his reflexes, a regular exercise for F1 drivers. It can be seen that he isn’t ready to stop anytime soon.
He is seen catching the green light as fast as possible, leaving none of them with accuracy. It only signifies that even in the ’40 club’ he isn’t willing to stop, while others getting exhausted by physical wear eventually leave the sport.

He is different
Former F1 driver Pedro de la Rosa recently talked to the Race about Alonso being a different person in motorsport. He claims the Spaniard is not normal and continually motivated to be in a car.
The Former Mclaren driver reveals that when Alonso isn’t in a race car on weekends, he calls and asks to schedule a 24-hour race. He is amazed that while others, after a season, are away holidaying, the 41-year-old wants to be in another race car.
Rosa even claimed Alonso’s enthusiasm was still the same while doing the seat fitting for Aston Martin recently compared to his same drill in Mclaren back in 2007. Therefore, for the ex-F1 driver, his motivation to drive stands him apart from others even when he has crossed 40.
