Sebastian Vettel Must Decide Whether He Should Return to Formula 1 After Appealing Job Offer by Top Boss

Sebastian Vettel made a surprise visit to the Formula 1 paddock last weekend during the Monaco Grand Prix. Amidst his appearance, he reportedly had a meeting with the F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, who, as per Motorsport Italy, gave him an appealing job offer that can ensure his comeback in the sport. And now the ball is in Vettel’s court whether he wants to take up that role after taking retirement last year.

The four-time world champion left the sport last year after he released an emotional video for fans in his newly made Instagram account. He reasoned that he wanted to spend quality time with his family before it was too late, as the hectic F1 schedule hardly allows the drivers some time with their loved ones.

Moreover, he also told the world that his principles towards environmental conservation conflict with his profession. Thus, it became one of the driving forces to trigger his retirement. But now, thanks to Domenicali, Vettel can return to the paddock without that dilemma.

Enticing job offer for Sebastian Vettel

Vettel met his every former team last weekend and spent some time with Lewis Hamilton. Amidst this, he also went out for dinner with Ferrari teammates. But only Domenicali talked to him about business.

According to the source, Vettel has been offered the role of sustainability manager in F1. The role would probably be in alliance with FIA’s goal for net zero in 2030 under the Paris Agreement, which the governing body believes.

With Vettel being a staunch advocate of environmental conservation, there could be no one better than Vettel as one of the former drivers to serve in that role. But so far, Vettel has reportedly not responded to the offer.

The former world champion has a chance to do what’s needed

In his final years as an F1 driver, Vettel was critical of F1 not doing enough for their sustainability goals. And now, with this job offer, he can make the required efforts as per his opinion.

However, it’s unknown how much decision-making power he would hold. But it’s apparent that he can’t make fundamental differences in the current structure as of now, as most of the teams would be against radical changes in how they race.

But that’s something which can be discussed later. Firstly, the German race driver needs to accept the offer on his table. But the return of Vettel as one of the faces would surely be welcomed by the fans.
