"Stuck in a Village with One Fully Booked Hotel": Nyck de Vries Reveals His Lucky Escape to Home Amidst Floods in Italy

The Imola Grand Prix, which was scheduled for this weekend, got canceled due to the flood in the region. Now, it has been discovered that even F1 personnel are being affected by the calamity. Nyck de Vries on his Instagram post shares his struggle to reach home.

With the Grand Prix canceled, the entire F1 entourage’s trip to Italy was cut short. But Vries encountered the problem much earlier. The Dutch race driver revealed he was on his way to Faenza ahead of his marketing day with AlphaTauri on Tuesday.

But while he was reaching there, Faenza was already flooded, and with nowhere to go, he entered an already booked hotel. But at the same time, he had luck on his side, as things only got better for him from here.

Nyck de Vries reveals how he escaped from Faenza

The Dutch race driver reveals on his social media post about his predicament, “stuck in a little village with one fully booked hotel,” that was already occupied by the McLaren team. Luckily, the front jack named Frazer offered Vries his room.

The next morning, when F1 announced that the Grand Prix has been canceled, the Alphatauri driver made up his mind to reach his home. However, it was going to be an uphill task.

Nevertheless, he set out for his journey back via Firenze. After driving through the mountains and getting help from local people, he managed to reach his home safely.

Is Monaco in danger?

With Imola seeing heavy rains that actually got flooded, Monaco is also seeing the same weather hazard. As per reports, over the course of the next week, Monaco is set to see rain, including the Grand Prix weekend.

So, it’s also speculated that if things go the same, even Monaco can get canceled. Last year also Monaco saw rain during the race day. But the race continued once the situation normalized.

The fans can only hope for things to go normal before the entire F1 contingent travels to Monaco. Meanwhile, it’s unknown how F1 plans to reschedule the Imola race further in the season.
